“Once Upon a Bean” is a limited-edition Belgian chocolate gift box that transforms the journey of the cocoa bean into a playful and beautifully illustrated story. Inside are 32 individually crafted chocolate squares, each representing a stage in the magical transformation from cocoa pod to finished chocolate. Designed as a visual narrative, the box combines gourmet chocolate with imagination, humour, and artistry.
To bring this world to life, Dolfin collaborated with Franco-Belgian artist and designer Elium, whose surreal and poetic style turns cocoa pods, beans, and chocolate bars into animated characters full of personality and movement. Her illustrations guide the experience like a comic strip, making the gift box as visually memorable as it is indulgent.
The assortment includes four signature flavours: milk chocolate with salted butter caramel, milk chocolate with nougatine, dark chocolate with shortbread biscuit, and 70% dark chocolate with Guérande sea salt. Together, they offer a balance of creamy sweetness, crunch, savoury contrast, and deep cocoa intensity.
Dolfin crafts its chocolate in Belgium using carefully selected cocoa beans that are fermented, dried, roasted, and conched to achieve smooth texture and aromatic depth. Produced with pure cocoa butter and guided by Dolfin’s Cocoa Act 4 values of people, planet, quality, and transparency, this box is a thoughtful and luxurious gifting experience designed to be both tasted and explored.
Sugar, cocoa paste, cocoa butter, whole milk powder, nougatine 4% (sugar, hazelnuts), caramel 4% (sugar, syrup of glucose, whole milk powder, fresh cream (milk), salted butter (milk), Guerande salt, emulsifier : rapeseed lecithin), shortbread biscuit 3% (wheat flour, sugar, butter (milk), salt), emulsifier : soy lecithin, Guerande salt 0.5%, natural vanilla flavouring, natural flavourings. Cocoa solids : 37%, 60% and 70% minimum. Milk solids: 17.5% minimum. May contain other tree nuts, eggs and sesame.

In 2021, it developed its own sustainability programme: Cocoa Act 4. From the cultivation of the cocoa bean through to the delivery of our chocolates, we ensure that each stage of the production process respects as far as possible the values that we hold dear.

Delivery is free on all UK orders over £40, with a £4.45 delivery charge for orders below this amount. Once your order has been dispatched, you’ll receive tracking updates directly from the courier, with options available including safe place delivery, delivery to a neighbour, or collection from a local pickup point.
